The personalities in the "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" shot:
First of all this shot was taken by John Gellman in 75 on a day off in Athens, GA. We were there playing a club called "Between The Hedges" and staying out at some friends of ours farm in the country. The person on the left is Freddie Cullaro. He was a friend of ours from Tampa who started out as our road manager and later moved into the production manager's chair. He was one of the smart guys in our group and a natural born leader. The next guy is Rex Ray. He was our sound engineer and he was the only technical qualified person we had on our crew. He was and still is one of the best live sound engineers in the business and he went on to be the house engineer for such great acts as Kenny Rogers. To this day he works for Claire Brothers Audio and is a legend in the live sound mixing business. The guy between Monte and Frank is David Cloud. David was unlike most of us as he was formally educated with a college degree. He was from Wachula, Florida and he came to work for the band very early on. His job description was that of road manager and he would whip a man's ass if he had it coming!!! We loved David and still do. The guy between Frank and Billy was Charlie Brusco. He was the bands manager. Charlie was to become partners with Alan Walden and together they would take the band to the big time. The day this shot was taken Alan was in the hotel room recovering from the night before and everyone in this picture was working on a serious hang over. That was business as usual back then and that's why you see so many cans of beer in the pictures. This is a candid snapshot of the early believers who helped us get where we going. These were, and still are "Brothers Of The Southland"!!!!
